Getting Pumped Up

That is, with the new Burn In Designs rail pump car!

It's now available from the Burn In Designs site, along with a number of other railroad necessities!

There's even a set of rails to go with all these various elements.

No railroad is complete without one of these maintenance vehicles, and the Wappelville Railroad company is not going to be left behind!

Up next, some shots with miniatures for scale...

Here they are!  You can see that two figures fit very easily on the rail car.  We were able to fit four of them on during a game.

Legendary Wyatt has claimed this pump car as essential for keeping the Law on the rails as well!

Look out!  It seems that Geronimo has entered the fray!

I'm not sure that Lawbot stands much of a chance against that Spirit Beast!

They've got us surrounded, Wyatt!

Who will win this fight... Energy Beast, or Lawbot.  Only time will tell.

Portable Portals

At last Mimreg Salto is here!  The portal packing character is a sidekick for the Holy Order of Man.

While her primary function is to place these portals around the board, she does have a handy Relic Pistol that can do some close up damage!

Here's a few views of the portals themselves...

And a scale comparison of Salto with the portals.

The blue to white faded backdrop does not always show the blue energy glows that well, so I also shot some pictures on my brown mist backdrop.

I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to actually use this character in a game.  I would prefer it to be at 1500 points.

One very important detail that must be kept in mind.  The portals, once activated, can be used by anyone!  It would be pretty hilarious to see one of the civilians stumble through one of them!!

We shall wait and see.

Swinging wildly...

Red Box time again!

As often happens, my palette morphs and changes over time.  I have already mentioned how all of the WWX and other figure lines pushed me towards the muted browns and tans with hints of green, etc.

Speaking of greens, I have been using greens as a highlight and midtone color so much more!

I have even been mixing light greens and pinks to make grey.  This is something I will do on sword blades and other metals.  When combined with some blueish highlights, you'd be surprised at just how correct that all looks!

Wolf riders

I always thought that the first Privateer Press cavalry figures I'd paint would be Raptors for a Legion of Everblight army.  However, it turned out to be Tharn wolf riders instead :-)

Having painted the infantry versions of these figures, I already knew what had to be done.  The wolves had to be closer to black than a typical white/grey color.

There will certainly be more where this came from in the long term...

By the Comet's Light

In my world, the Old Worlde still exists, and that includes the jungles of Lustria!

In that jungle resides Tette 'Ekko, or Baby Babo, as I always referred to him.

That was a scratch built figure that always went with my Skrox army.  Yes, tons of skinks and Kroxigors!!  This close up shows the Skink Tank.  Back in the day, this unit could take down monsters on the charge with its poison javelins.

I had a number of these "Skrox" units, which I called my foot cavalry.  They moved almost as rapidly as some heavy cavalry.

The regular small units would each have a little surprise inside... some kind of skink chief with a sneaky weapon, etc.

It was Baby Babo's job to drop down comets from the heavens.  I would often choose to re-roll the entry of the comet, so that its delay increased its power!

There are a few articles on the blog which shows some WIP images of Baby Babo, along with dozens more on the various skink units.  Check out some of the battle reports to see them in action!!!

Come over here...

I forgot how much fun these classic Dark Elf figures are to paint!  It's been at least 8 or 9 years sinceI last painted one.

Most of the metal figures I have like this were converted into Hekatrix Blood Brides, but I still have a few in "original condition" ;-)

Coming out of your shell

I wish that I could get more chances to paint Bombshell Miniatures, sculpted by the always fantastic Patrick Keith.  The faces are always very well defined, and easy to paint.

The poses also have a dynamism that makes them very appealing, but they are still one or two piece casts at most.  This is very helpful for a lot of reasons.  Less time to prep, and less things to break!!
