Hot stuff

Want to stay warm this ice cold winter?  Paint some lava bases!

This particular figure was practice for a number of videos.  Painting Lava, OSL, NMM Flesh tone, you name it!

It is a delicate balancing act to keep all those opposing forces working together.  The super saturated warmer colors of the lava can overpower the skin tones very rapidly, making the risk of chalkiness that much higher.  Also, keeping subtle transitions on the metals can get a little crazy.

Still it is always a fun exercise!

Another feather in your cap

Yup, more yellow, black and metal.  The unit is rapidly reaching that point where it is not a bunch of dancing pieces of plastic on sticks, but a growing mob of guys!

That's where things start to get interesting.  It starts to look visually like progress, but also means some inevitable headaches with trying to make them rank up, movement trays and so on.

All the bases are magnetized already.  Providing some flexibility with future units size is important... since we know that rules can fluctuate very wildly from one edition or army book to another.  What, my unit of 20 guys now has to be 200 to do half as much?

That never happens.
