A whimsical mystery mini...

Here's something I found that was a very interesting figure to paint.  It was resin, and a nice cast with good sculpting.  I have no idea who makes it, but it has a lot of character and whimsy! :-)

Ilyad: They never fail to impress

I realize that there is nothing earth shattering about these two minis, but the quality of the sculpting lines and the casting never cease to amaze me.  Everything fits together EXACTLY as it should, virtually NO air bubbles, and so on.  And these things are several years old.  It keeps me wondering what people are doing wrong now, with so much more technology available.

Anyway, sorry for the gripe fest.  It's be a strange couple of days.

Finished 'Tainted' World Eaters Decimator

Loyal Wappellians will recognize this color scheme. :-)  Probably even casual viewers, given how many bits of these armies have appeared on the blog!

I will be taking some pictures of this guy next to his Nurgle buddy!

These pictures give you a bit of an idea of how the glazing and tinting altered the look of the Decimator, especially when you compare them to the images of the"Shaded Basecoat" set.

The Tomb Kings army so far...

OK!  Here is a bit of a "Family Portrait" to show what the army is looking like as a whole... sans display board. :-)

Now that several of the movement trays are painted and units completed, I wanted to snap a few shots to see what it all looked like on a table, as opposed to the Tomb board.  Pretty different when they are on a table, aren't they!

Lots more to come.  In fact, there is a pile of stuff coming for the Tomb Kings that is just about as big as what you see on the table here.

WIP images: Shaded Basecoat technique on the Tainted World Eaters Decimator

Here are a few quick images to illustrate the use of the "Shaded basecoat" technique once again.  For those who are not familiar with this term, you can check it out in the "how to" pages of the blog.

The first image shows the size of the brush which was used to paint everything thus far.  That is the whole point of the technique... to get pigment on every surface as quickly as possible.

These next few images were taken not long before I started the glazing and tinting process.  We start with the torso...
