This old man

This "Old Timer" is not your average Senior Citizen.

He is Sircan Abner, a boss in the Holy Order of Man posse.

In addition to providing buffs to the rest of the posse's abilities, he is a guardian of Relics.

This means that you have a much better chance of gaining the initiative, especially if you also have a few other Holy Order characters chipping in.

Gaining the initiative is normally important, but when you are as outnumbered as Holy Orders will be, being able to get the jump on your enemy is crucial!

Going first can help keep you alive, obviously.  It's even more important, because you will likely have to take a lot of chances in positioning your forces.  Holy Order don't have a lot of long range options, forcing them to be more stealthy.

After GenCon, I hope to try out a number of different posse builds.  I am also working on one that includes several members of the Wayward Eight.

Burning up the Barnyard

Here's something that no western themed table should be without!  Yes, another fantastic kit from Burn In Designs.

As always, Lathan make sure that the interior has lots of fun spaces for the figures to move about.  Each level also has multiple ways to access them, so you don't have to make too many of those climbing rolls.

Hiding and shooting is a classic barn activity in Wappelville these days.

A handy staircase to get you up there...

This awning looks great, but also offers some cover from snipers in high perches!

Or you could just box it in and stay warm!

Gotta have one of these!!

Live by the Sword

Wielding the Sword of the Fathers, Altcap Siraj is a very potent Underboss for the Holy Order of Man.

Not only does he provide a "buff" to all the other members of a Holy Order posse in close combat, he can do some serious damage on his own.

He has a large combat halo, and his weapon has one of the highest damage potential around.

Using the Spirit Edge trait, he can eliminate the armor of anything but large vehicles.

Getting him there safely will be a challenge, but I think that the light support units might be used to funnel opponents his way!

Playing in the snow

This is the 'missing' member of the Red Box Games barbarian set.

I had painted nine of them, and figures there had to be one more :-)  This is the one female member of the group, which completes the ten!

Once I finish with all the individual shots, I will go the group shots.

The tip of the spear

A year ago, I first started painting Holy Order of Man figures at GenCon in the dealers room.

I thought that would be a very neat faction to paint and play, and started working on that when I got back home.  One year later, I have a fairly decent sized posse of Holy Order, and here's one of the new additions!!!

This is the Spear of Light light support vehicle.  It is fast, and has the ability to plant mines along its path,

Not only is it deadly in shooting and drive by attacks... those mines can also be an area denial, or serve to channel the enemy into specific killing zones.

When you couple those abilities with the "buffing" of the Sircans and other characters, these become the most effective of light supports.  The point costs are quite manageable, when you consider how pricey all Holy Orders units tend to be.

I thought you might like to see a comparison of the concept art with my finished miniature!

Stay tuned for much more!!!

You light up my life

Given all the mayhem that has occurred on the streets of Wappeville after sundown, the City officials determined that the only solution was to set up a string of RJ-1027 powered lights!!

The Burn in Designs streetlamp set was just perfect for this task.

It comes with a variety of options.

Here's one of the lights with the various pieces dry fit into place.

While you don't have to use the pieces in any exact way, I decided to match what Lathan had done in his images.

I used regular Elmer's glue, hoping that some would seep out around the edges.  I used a brush to spread out the glue to hide the seams between sections.

The underside of the boardwalk sections has to be planned out carefully if you want the sections to line up correctly.

One of the long support pieces has notches for the streetlamps.  If you want one section to have the lamps closer to the street as opposed to the buildings, it will be easier for the folks walking along it to take cover.

Lamps glued in place!

The boardwalk on the top is complete.  Now I will reverse everything to make a section for the opposite side of the street.

I put a sign post on the end of each section, since I want to designate street names now.  Wappelville is becoming quite the metropolis, after all!!

The opposing section under way.  You can also see the street signs down in the corner.

Look!  These new boardwalk sections line up perfectly with the original smaller versions which we already have.  Now I just have to paint them to match... so stay tuned!

Even a Legend needs a pal

Even when you are a legend, a man still needs his best friend.

Legendary Wyatt has two buddies, the new, very potent K-9 Mercenary dogs.

Not only do they offer massive additional firepower, but they are his "eyes and ears", seeking out targets, providing line of sight.

This will be devastating, since Wyatt will not have to use his many action points to move into position.  No longer will he have to march down the middle of the street!

I think the streets of Wappelville just got a lot safer!!!

In addition, these two K-9's can "reach out and touch someone"... they can charge a potentially nasty enemy shooter, keeping them tied up so that the rest of the Lawmen can advance.

There's a total of ten action points here, and that's going to come in VERY handy.

I cannot wait to try out this fearsome trio!!

They will lay waste to the Enemies of Justice.

Stay tuned for a possible battle report after GenCon!!!
