A higher Standard...

Another fun standard bearer from Mierce Miniatures!

Obviously a lot smaller than the Minotaur and Rhino banners :-)

Still very fun, though!!

Cavalry charge

Staying in the historical realm, but switching eras, we call in the cavalry!

Whenever I paint these guys, all I can think of are LOTR Rohan horses.  I realize the same person sculpted both, but I keep expecting to see Eomer riding one of them!

It wouldn't take much to convert the saddles and make them work for LOTR...

These would also make excellent horses for my Khandish chariots!!

Form up!

CHARGE!

There will be some much bigger group shots soon.

So many, that it will require the big backdrop.

Stay tuned!

Flames of Fury

After realizing that I never posted the finished images of the Charging Stations, I remembered that the Flames of War Easy Eight needed to be photographed as well.

So, here it is!

I am looking forward to painting much more of this in 2015!!

My own personal force right now will be the 82nd Airborne.  Lots of jeeps, infantry and such.

Here's a size comparison with the Memoir '44 Shermans.

And now for a few different backdrops...

Stay tuned for more!!

Check out the size of that thing!

Sorry... couldn't resist that!

Here are some shots of those two massive rhinos from Mierce Miniatures.

I also wanted to see what the two different colors looked like next to each other.

A number of these colors have to fit into an overall army palette.

These ended up being all natural/earth tones.

It's been fun to continue to explore that color range... both on these guys and the Wild West Exodus figures.

Speaking of earth tones... now we see them on the Hangar 18 large backdrop.

It's amazing how different they look depending on the backdrop in question!

I have some shots of all six rhinos together on this backdrop that I will post later...

The human sized figure in this image is pretty hefty... about 30mm scale.  That gives you an idea about how freaking huge these bad boys are!

I hope you have been enjoying the Creature posts!!

Charging Your Batteries...

These are some images I have been meaning to post for some time now... but I kept forgetting!

I think most of you saw the work in progress post that showed how I made these charging stations for Wild West Exodus using leftover wood from the Burn In Designs jailhouse.

The rest of the materials were green stuff (for the cables) and matboard for the base.

I added a few more layers of paint here and there since you last saw them.

We had come up with some simple rules for using these in our games, although the situation has not come up yet.  I think it will be more likely if we both have the mass amounts of heavy supports that we are building towards.

It was a lot of fun to make these, and it took no time at all.  Just a few hours.

Most of the pieces from Burn In Designs were window shutters and the 'punch out' pieces that you would normally throw away.  I now have a large (and growing) collection of those!!!

I set up some fun scenic views with the charging stations, my Lawmen, and other pieces of terrain from Burn In Designs.  Stay tuned!!!

Watch where you point that thing...

Fast and furious on the Thralls now.

These guys are pretty crazy little buggers.

Darn near microscopic compared to all the other huge figs I have been painting for this army.

That's a big hankey...

Here we have another giant standard bearer from Mierce Miniatures.

I had to do this as a black rhino after the white rhino champion!

These banners are the size of small towels. :-)  I have trying to keep the designs simple, as I don't think the rhinos have quite the artistic ability!

Group shots soon!
