Casting a spell...

Here's another test figure from one of the painting videos.  I had considered this for the Object Source lighting video at one point, but realized right away that it was going to be way too involved to complete in the time that I had.

I ended up going with the Alastriel figure, so Trathus Varr sat around waiting for his final rounds of paint... as many test figures have been!

Arcadians revealed

I have been getting these new figures from Victoria Miniatures ready for some paint this week.  I thought you might like a few images of the sprues!

As with every other variety of Guardsman, the idea is that it's all interchangeable.

What's interesting about this particular set is the female proportions.  By that I mean the they have been scaled to be slightly smaller than the male counterparts (a future post on that coming soon!).

The torsos a wee bit smaller, the arms as well.  Not so much that it is blatantly obvious, however.

Victoria always makes every effort to keep things in scale, and it is done quite masterfully with the female Arcadian Rifles.

You can see that ample amounts of command and weapon options are provided.  Between that and the extra heads, you can really customize your squads.

Of course, ten bases are provided as well.  So, on to the assembly!

The on deck hitter...

Here's some more fun stuff from Secret Weapon Miniatures!

This is the bike version of the Flight Deck bases.

Here they are painted up.  You can go in many different directions with these, since there is some texture, but not so much that you must render it all.

That leaves a lot of room for freehand, weathering effects... and a miniature!

Lots of fun to paint these guys!

They would work with any sci-fi system that has bikes.  I don't know if Infinity does yet.  I know they have some robots...

These also go very well with the standard round Flight Deck series.

Speaking of series, the Sox just clinched a series win! Hopefully they can close this out, and continue to make more hay against the National League Least.

She's ready for the mean streets

Have a zombie issue in your neighborhood?  Not a problem for this gal!

She not only has the leather, she's got the blonde highlights in her hair.

She is all set to plug some pesky brain eaters.  Ready to put a cap in any shambling monster she runs across, she ignores the stench and the blood and gets the job done!

The blood soaked newspaper at her feet makes the situation fairly clear.

Worth the wait?

Here's something a long time in coming.  I had this thing around forever, just waiting for paint one day.  It was a practice mini for weathering and a test for painting the crystal bases.

These old Confrontation Wolfen figures were always favorites of mine.  I am glad that I waited so long, so that I could do much more fun things with him.  I have learned a lot since those days!!!

The base is a design that I sculpted for CoolMini and the Groundwerks line.  Eventually, that basing technique would be one of the Painting Pyramid basing videos.

Mother Superior from Svarog

I have been painting some of the Svarog Miniatures Sisters of Battle off an on since they arrived.  This one is called Sister Superior.

If you recall the original unboxing post, these are resin figures, and each figure comes with its own sculpted base.  I will snap some images of these side by side with typical metal GW Sisters.

The man in Black

Now here is something that was years in the making.  I first sculpted this figure in 2008.  Long long ago, back when I was making heavily converted terminators out of Space Wolf space marines :-)

He was destined to be a special Inquisitor character in my Demonhunters army... decked out in terminator armor and master crafted lightning claws.

Since How to Paint Black is a video that is on the list of new ones to create, I am going to start fooling around with various armored miniatures to see what that would entail.  In this case, I wanted it to be a shinier black.

I don't know if the video would include any OSL, but a tiny bit might actually be very useful!
