Why does this thing have to be so heavy?

This is a figure that I have waited years to paint.  It is definitely very different from the typical banner bearer!

As I mentioned a few days ago in one of the basing posts, I made the base a little bigger so that I could offset the weight of the icon.  Good thing I did!

A very interesting figure...

Time to re-grout!

I hope you are not getting sick of bases!  I never do ;-)

Yes, more bases for the Sisters.  I don't often get a chance to do white marble, so these are fun!

Of course, lettering is always fun for a closet calligrapher.

They always look fun in groups!

I don't plan everything out in advance... it just sort of 'happens'.

More fun that way!

Reverend Mother...

More fun with nuns!  This time, a Canoness

It goes along with the same color scheme as the previous Sisters.

More on the way!!!

He'll claw your eyes out...

Ah, running with scissors at its best!

This was a conversion I did many moons ago for my old Demonhunters army.  I made it, and a few other pieces of a similar nature, not long after that first massively converted squad of Grey Knight terminators that won the Gold at GD.

I was taking regular Space Marine bodies and converting them into terminators, since all the was available at the time was the old metal versions.

This project really taught me the differences in the properties of  green stuff and brown stuff.  Each one has a very different purpose.

Brown stuff holds an edge very well, but it can be very brittle.  Green stuff is more flexible, but it has a 'memory', which makes it less viable for other things.  I have learned a lot about green stuff since then, as well as Apoxy Sculpt.

Get back in the fight, you dogs!

Here's the first of the minis that belong to the latest batch of bases!

Commissar time.  Better not fail that leadership test...

Grays are always fun to imbue with some nice subtle variations... a little more green here, more purple there.  More blue, more reddish, you get the idea :-)

And the base was fun too!

Another basing bonanza

Back to basing once again, getting ready for the next round of miniatures.

The next set includes more Sisters, and a Commissar.  This larger profile base is for a Sisters icon bearer, which I have learned the hard way leans over a lot, even with counterweights.  A platform like this will allow me to offset the footprint and get a better center of gravity.

This one is for a Canonness, whose robe will cover up a large portion of the design.  So, I tried to keep an open area...

And another view of the set.

For those not familiar with the process, there are dozens of posts about these Sculpey and cork bases in the basing section of the blog.

The Dark Coven

This batch of images shows the largest single group of Raging Heroes Fantasy Vestals.  A half dozen in all.

Each one of these was very fun to paint.  The variations in poses were no problem to base.  I went with my classic marble scheme.

It is very cool to see these images of the large gathering!

Fall in line!

You are asking for trouble if you walk up to this!

So much dynamism to these poses!!!

If I was to create an entire Dark Elf army, I would have to say this darker flesh tone is the way I would like to go.

This will probably be the last set of these for quite a while :-)
