War in the Bayou

Well, here's something that I've been looking forward to since Adepticon!!!  Yes, Wild West Exodus will soon be adding its four new factions!

For your viewing pleasure, I will be showing some of the actual line troop sprues.  Let's get that process started with the Scouts of the Confederate Rebellion.

As with all the existing sprues, each figure is a completely unique pose, arranged in sets of five long range and five close combat fighters.

Each piece is labeled, and they go together very easily.  Since these are genuine plastic, plastic glue will actually work!  That's why the WWX plastics are among my favorite, in addition to the solid construction.

These parts won't break as you try to get rid of mould lines :-)

The line troops are not all!  There will also be Bosses and light supports in the initial public release as well.  Here are some images for you:

The Long Range Scouts ready for action!  Again, these are not renders, but real figures, assembled, primed, and so on.

The Close Combat Scouts are ready to sneak around the swamp!

I am really looking forward to painting these guys!  The bases will have to be forest or swamp theme.  In the WWX universe, the Confederacy heeded the pleas of their President to abandon the cities, and take the Revolution to the hills and the swamps...

The Confederate Rebellion will rely primarily on guerrilla, hit and run style tactics.  Stealth will be their main asset.

There are many exciting heavy supports coming for them as well.  And some very nasty critters!!  Check out the giant snake!!

Back away from that snowman...

I think this is how I will be guarding my snowmen this winter!

Considering that someone once drove off the street in the middle of the night to drive over a rather large snowman that we constructed many years ago, this thought is not entirely out of line!

I remember painting late into the night, as usual, and thinking that a snow plow must have driven down the street.  Quite a racket!  When we walked out of the house, it was apparent that there were tire tracks in the snow, almost reaching the sidewalk.

Since it was so large, the bottom layer was almost solid ice.  Let's just say that Mr. Snowman might have fallen, but he took his own pound of flesh as well!!

Nuns With Guns: Part 1

The latest campaign by Raging Heroes will leave us all with some very difficult, but really amazing choices.  It's not enough to choose between the incredible Dark Elves and these Sisters... you have to figure out which of these amazing Nuns with Guns will grace your painting tables!

This pose is a classic!

Now for a few close ups... incredible detail, and it will all translate to the final sculpt!

The Colossus of France

I was able to get my hands on a Char B1 Bis tank for my France '40 Flames of War army, which meant I got to see this rather unusual tank in person at last.

When you get so used to seeing Royal Tigers, Easy Eights and Stuggs all the time, these WWI looking hybrids are even more strange.  To make that more interesting, one must ponder that German tankers actually feared the Char Bis, referring to it as the Colossus.

I have to try and do the captured German paint scheme at some point!

While it is large compared to the Renault and Souma tanks, it is quite narrow compared to the later war versions.

These types of vehicles are great illustrations of the technological experimentation that was conducted in the inter-war years.  Lots of different designs were explored, and many limbs from the evolutionary tree would be trimmed as the war dragged on.

The tiny turret and the innumerable responsibilities of the tank commander limited the success of the Char B1 Bis tank, as did the outmoded unit organization and tactics.  The poor guy had to load, drive, shoot, bottle wine, and many other tasks all at once!

This is why I look forward to trying out these early war units, to see if there is a way for them to be victorious... with the benefit of hindsight, of course!

Fire and Iron

Here's the latest structure to be added to the own of Wappelville... a blacksmith's shop!  This is a great design by Lathan of Burn In Designs.

As you can see, this is a fairly extensive structure, with lots of elements.

The building itself is pretty spacious, and there is a nice shelving unit as well.  There are two sliding doors which can close off this unit when you need to create some security!

And now for our forge... complete with an anvil!!

There is plenty of room in here to get some figures in here, including a little dust up!!  The roof sections can be removed to get those lads inside.

It glows red hot with RJ-1027 supplied energy.

You don't have to use both structures, but they do make an impressive pair.

I still have many more details to add on this... signs, wanted posters, tools, buckets, etc.

For now, it will certainly do the trick!  It's available from Burn In Designs.

Looks like Wyatt is already staking his claim to this newest building, making sure that no Outlaws use it as a hideout!

The Law, forged in Iron!

Hmm... perhaps the Judgement Heavy Support needs a few patches after the latest fight...

Those bases are larger, 40mm size, which gives you an idea of how big this set is!
