These snails are not tasty...

Time for some group shots.  Even now, the team is way too big to fit in one photo.  So here we have the Chaos Warriors.  And a buddy.

Once again, I didn't do the conversions... my job was painting :-)

These guys are pretty huge.  The bases are 30mm, so that gives you an idea.

Each one is quite unique.  I tried very hard to paint each one differently as well.

Also, I wanted to match the previous batches of rotters and pestigors.  There was less exposed skin on these guys... plus you have to factor in the shells.

Still, they do look neat all together like this!

Beware of Slime Bay!

Next up is a big batch of group shots of the rotters!

This thing is getting pretty heavy...

While I have been talking over and over again about the various colors I have been using on the sword blades for all the SE-NMM, let's not lose sight of all the fun on the skin colors.

There is only the faces and hands, but it has been important to make sure that it does not get too warm, or too pink.  I have had to mix in enough of the blueish grays to push it a bit towards the green.

This will keep the skin colors from getting 'lost' among all the nearby yellow.

In addition, the overhanging black hats determined this line of coloration.  Not only would the faces be in more shadow than usual, the skin would be reflecting those colors to some degree, much like your face reflects the color of the shirt you are wearing.

Think of that the next time you get dressed in the morning! :-)

The third time around...

OK, the last of the Marneus conversions, this time with some WIP images.
These give you a decent idea of where green stuff and brown stuff was used, etc.

The helmet was made by cutting away part of it so that I could create that Grey Knight shape.

Even more plastic bits were used on this version.

At last, some paint!

Each one of these had a very different personality.

As I looked at this one more closely, I can see that I had to replace the wax parts of the purity seals as well.  I had lots of Ultramarine symbols to get rid of!!!

Just like the other versions, this one weighed a ton.

Views from above...

More squigglers

Sorry about how that sounds :-)  Been a long day.  When I was assembling these, it did not occur to me right away that an awful lot of the weapon arm sets on these figures had the squiggly swords.

Now that I have done a half a dozen of them, it is a bit easier, but there was definitely a challenge involved.

I suppose it's all for the best to have such a challenge, and evolve the technique a bit int the process. :-)

More fun with Marneus.

Remember when I said I had sliced and diced that very solid and very pewter Marneus Calgar figure for 3 different conversions?  Here is the second one!

I do like the way it turned out though.  Lots of bits, lots of pinning, lots of green stuff (which is almost entirely hidden.  I don't have the WIP images of this (probably because I was also trying to smash my face into a wall at the same time!)

I think the next one does have WIP images of the converting process.

A close up of the base...

Who put this here?

Darn cannons keep blasting all the pillars.  Busts those buggers up, and we keep tripping over them!

Talk about running with scissors.

More fun with Sky Earth Non Metal Metallics!  As I have mentioned on the previous posts, I have had a lot of fun painting this effect with different colors.  For instance, most of the blades have mixtures of purplish gray, blue grey, sky blue, a bit of off white tinted yellow, muted greens... and even some yellow here and there if the hat feather is close enough!

Sort of like this fellow. :-)

The next conversion

OK, we continue with that converted Grey Knight terminator squad from years past.

As I look at these again for the first time in a long time, I remember how much I learned in the process of converting and resculpting them.

Just like the rest of the squad, I took a regular space marine, added length to the legs and arms, the extra armor, and so on.

These guys required a number of layers.  I had to do one area, leave it alone, and move on to the next guy as that one set up.  Then I used green stuff to do all the lettering and finer details.

And here he is painted!  Heck, I remember how my painting techniques were only just beginning to move in the direction in which they have progressed since then.

While these guys were painted in a huge rush to be ready for Games Day, I know that my current techniques could have done the job in half the time...
