Magnets galore: Multiple wargear for Grey Knights

These squads of Grey Knights have been a real challenge, since a lot of stuff is magnetized.  The original weapon choice was halberds, but with 6th edition now here, who knows how that will change!

Getting the banner to be magnetized to the same arm as the regular halberd was very difficult!  That thing is so much heavier than the halberd.  I also had to change the arm angles on most of these to make that happen.

Sneaky Snakes: Painting bases for Necropollis Knights

It is now time to get around to the Necropolis Knights!  I probably won't be using these in a game until I can expand the unit to six, but I have been wanting to see what they look like with some color on them!

First I began by drawing out the basic design:


Then setting down the basic colors:




It was time to start shading the snakes lighter, using the same color scheme that I did on the Stalkers:


I continue to lighten the snakes, working up to the same brightness level of the stalkers:


Once I had the shading complete, it was time to create the scale patterns from the Stalkers:


I proceed with the pattern, and I begin to paint the skull design as well...


More shading on the skull, and getting some color into the eyes.  The rest of the usual demon faces and skulls are started in the marble areas...


Now I focus more on the faces in the marble sections:




The demon faces and skulls are almost complete, and more colors are added to the main skull design.




At this point I go back into the small skulls and demon faces to reclaim the darkest colors:


Once the darks are re established, I put the glowing elements in, and work the crown of the skull design.


Almost done!


Here we have the bases ready to go!

Girl Power! Reprised Death Cult Assassin conversions

It is time for another one of those VERY brief interludes between Tomb King posts for Armies on Parade!

I have posted images of these before, but since then I have added certain details to the cloaks, bases, knives, armor, etc.

I would be sad to see the ladies go, but the new army for 40k is Dark Eldar, and that will be my only 40k focus until Adepticon 2013!!  I guess that means I have to learn how 6th edition works...

The first Bowshabti

Here's one of the Bowshabti that will be positioned along the alcoves near the pillars on each side of the army board.  There's room for four of these guys, so one down, three to go!

This particular figure has a bit more gold on it.  I am attempting to put gold on figures every so often, just to show that the "taint" is not 100% complete, and some of the former "Golden Glory" still exists in some way.

Working through the boneyard... more skeletones!

We are back, and somewhat ready for action...

Among many other things, I am working through the skeleton archer unit.  The plan is to have a row of ten of these on each side of the tomb interior, each one with a character attached.
