Passing the 700,000 mark with some Incubi!

Here's the next set of converted Incubi figures.  Just as I did with all of them, I used Kabal Warriors, bits and plasticard to create them.

It is amazing to think how quickly the moment approaches when the blog reaches three quarters of a million views.  At the rate things go on a daily basis, that will be reached around the time of another milestone... Adepticon!

I will try to generate the same sort of posts that I did last year, although that will depend on how much internet access I have, and if I have enough time to process the images, etc.  The schedule is very different from last year, so we shall see.

If there are as many triple flyer lists as I suspect there might be, I may not have all that many images to process :-)

These next few images are of the unit Klaivex...

So, another hearty thank you to all who have helped make this crazy blog what it is!

Fallback plan for objective markers

Since time is becoming scarce for getting everything done for Adepticon, I am trying to come up with a few ways of doing the 3 objective markers that I need.

The original plan was to have Marines impaled on spikes with blood dripping down, etc., and some new slaves chained to the spikes.  I a, not sure I will have time for all that, so I decided to paint up 3 slaves quickly so that those were ready to be put on a more simplified version.

This would likely be bases with mosaics or statuary like some of the bases you have seen on the Venoms and the Razorwing.

You have seen one of these slave girls already, sitting on the back of the Archon's Venom.  These are from Bronze Age Miniatures.

I did a little experiment with the transparent red.  I mixed it with some of the lighter flesh tone colors, which made an interesting pink.  I was able to use this in areas where the capilaries are closer to the surface of the skin.  This was done on the hands and cheeks, and it did help create some interesting effects.

By the way, the blog has now surpassed the 700,000 page view mark!  Many thanks to everyone who has visited!!!

The Incubi take shape!

OK!  Time for some images of the finished Incubi.  As some of you already know (or most!), I converted these from regular Kabal Warriors using Raging Heroes bits, plasticard and other GW bits.

You can see one of the posts here:

These were very fun conversions.  Some of the parts were more difficult to create, such as the Klaives (using plasticard), but well worth it. :-)

I think I even used some WFB beastman horns on a few of the helmets!

Speaking of Raging Heroes, the TGG kickstarter draws ever closer!!!  Here's the latest concept art piece which was just posted today...

Asharah's retinue in progress

Here we have some work in progress shots of the Incubi unit that is riding in the Venom along with Asharah, Archon of the Dark Eldar army.

Just as you saw with the Kabal warriors, the shaded basecoat technique was out in force.  These pictures show them just about ready for the glazing and shading stage.

And then the glazing and shading begin...

Just as it did with the Kabal Warriors, the darker shading and tinting makes a dramatic difference.  The tinting aspect is particularly helpful on the trophies and helmets, because I can create lots of new color themes from a very basic starting color.

I added some glowing symbols on the Klaives, and then did some blood.

I will start posting some of the finished images tomorrow... stay tuned!

The last of the Fenryll

This is the final figure that I uncovered from the archives... circa 2005-2006.

It will be fun to get back into some of this color flesh tone again. :-)

Gotta have grunts!!

Oddly enough, these guys were the very first figures I worked on back in the day... as in May 2011.  I remember having lots of fun mixing and matching new Dark Eldar parts with the ancient ones, once I realized that you could get them to fit together!

Here we have some WIP images as I was getting them all painted.  This will look pretty familiar, as the pattern of painting was not very different form all the vehicles you have seen.  This picture shows the shaded basecoat technique used on the armor.

Now the same treatment for the weapons and other items, such as hair, trophies, vials, and so on.

This is all designed to set up the next stage, which is glazing and shading!  You can see a few articles on the shaded basecoat on the top bar of the blog, as well as countless other examples embedded withing previous posts.

So we are ready to go!  The idea is to work all the way up to the lightest highlights, and then re-work the middle tones and darks with the glazes.  I used a series of GW, Vallejo and Reaper glazes to do this.

The the Glazing begin!  Quite a dramatic effect.

Once the glazing is done, I went back in to do other details on faces, weapons, as well as freehand.  More to come, so stay tuned!!

Baseball was glad to see the Sox begin the season 2-0!!!!!

A few more images...

I almost forgot to post the rest of the Venom images!

There are still those remaining details to finish on this and the other vehicles, but that will wait until everything else is at this sane stage.

I would rather not do that piecemeal, which could lead me to forget something, or not have consistent results...

There are other details that I would like to add, but that is only if there is time.  Now that I have to spend some time reworking a Tomb Kings unit of chariots, that will cut down on the 'extras'.

Hopefully I will get the chance to do most of the fun extra touches on this army...

Stay tuned for a lot more in the next few days!
