And so it begins!

The day has arrived!!  The Shattered Earth campaign from Massive Awesome has begun!

Here's a link:

I enjoyed painting these Coyote Warrior figures.  They had a ton of sharp, crisp detail, which made them very easy to work with.

There are options for the heads, which can completely change the character of a figure.  A nice option to have!

These are also true scale, so no giant hands or oversize swords.  All in all, a very realistic look.

A number of other very nice figures are available through the kickstarter, which I am looking forward to!

As you can see, once they are in terrain, they look like they belong right there in the image.  I would like to try these guys in some desert camo as well.

As a size reference, these figures are on 25mm round bases.

I did a number of posts on the individual figures, which I will link during the campaign:

Almost Here!!

Here's another look at the Shattered Earth Coyote troopers.  It's always fun to see these guys in a group setting.  The bases were some nice Urban Rubble from Secret Weapon Miniatures.  They are 25mm, so that gives you an idea of the scale on the figures.

The hands are true scale, not heroic.  They were so realistic, it was a bit scary!!

There is also a nice variety of poses.  Add to that the various options for the heads (helmets, hats, etc.), you can make a very unique squad.

I have one more set of group shots in some terrain, which I will post when the Shattered Earth Kickstarter campaign begins in a matter of days!

Stay tuned for that!  I will post links here.

Land of the Coyotes

Here we have the fourth installment of the Coyote Assault Troopers from Massive Awesome.

The campaign draws ever closer, so look for the Shattered Earth kickstarter in early February!

Once again, I tried to stay as close to the concept art as possible.  You can choose to go the Camo route if you want... I think these would be outstanding in digital or desert fatigues too!

Jungle setting might also be interesting.  With so many fantastic paper plants out there these days, you don't have to rely on those troublesome plastic aquarium plants!!

The Earth Shatters

We visit the Shattered Earth once again from Massive Awesome.  As with the previous characters, this figure had a few different head options.

You can see some of the other figures that they have created on their facebook page:

While this set of figures has more of a 21st century military feel, there are also some more fantasy oriented figures that are pretty fun as well!

There is one more figure in the set, so stay tuned!

I tried to stay in keeping with the concept art as much as possible.

Shattered Earth

Here's another miniature from Massive Awesome's Shattered Earth.

A link to the facebook page:

These are finely detailed sculpts and casts that could serve a variety of purposes.

I had a lot of fun painting this guy!  I have been using some Secret Weapon Miniatures Urban Rubble bases with them as well.

I have been following the concept art color schemes as closely as possible with this set, and that's always an interesting challenge.  Usually there has to be some alterations made in the process of sketch, to sculpt, to final cast.

So here's a side by side by side of the journey!

Shattered Earth

Today we have something from a new company.  Massive Awesome has created a number of highly detailed figures for their Shattered Earth universe.

Once again, the ease of prepping was another key for me.  When you see me trying out new miniature manufacturers on these pages, the appearance alone is not enough.  Not being tortured during said prepping phase is quite important to someone who does this on an industrial scale. ;-)

When you have those precise details, the painting phase gets a lot easier, and more fun.  I can focus more on subtle color transitions, and even rust/freehand effects if I wish.

Each of the Shattered Earth figures that you will see here came with a few different head options.  They were both so nice, it was difficult to choose in each case

This concept art gives you an idea of what some of the other poses will look like.  I thought these color schemes were pretty fun

Time to check out a few renders.  In a future post, I will be showing a combined image of concept art, render, and painted mini.
