The Nations go to War!

Now that I have gotten some of the Bosses and heavy support completed for the Dark Nation, I wanted to contrast them with their former bretheren... the Warrior Nation

I have The Wendigo heavy support from the Dark Nation on the right, while the Great Elk, brims with the natural energies of the Great Spirit.

Great heroes of the Warrior Nation such as Geronimo and Sitting Bull face off against Big Horn and Avacano.  Right away, you can see that the Dark Nation have chosen to adopt the weapons of The Enemy, powered by the hated RJ-1027 power source.

Use of such a power source corrupts completely.  Each of the characters from the Dark Nation shows this corruption in one form or another.

Geronimo will never use the RJ powered weaponry, choosing his own claws and his courage instead.  This is seen as foolhardy by the Dark Nation.  To turn the weapon of The Enemy against him can only mean ultimate victory!

It's not just great warriors, heroes and beasts that have turned against on another.  Yes, even the braves and scalpers have become divided.

This conflict will likely grow far worse, and far more deadly!  Stay tuned to find out what happens...

A nation of Warriors

Just a few more Scalpers needed to have a decent sized Warrior Nation posse for all new battle reports!

I have tried to leave myself some room in terms of freehand markings, tattoos, and so on, until I work out the rest of the hired hand troops.

There are certain symbols that I wanted to use, but I will wait until I can make some of the initial terrain pieces, such as totems and tepees!

The Scalpers will be the first hired hands that I test out, which will be the opposite of what I did with the Lawmen.  In that case, I focused on the lower level hired hands.

I have not really explored how the points will play out, in combination with the bosses, underbosses, sidekicks and light supports.

No matter what, I will have to think of these hired hands very differently from the Holy Orders and Lawmen.

It's very cool to see them all together!  I'm hoping to get at least two more quick Scalpers done for the playtesting and battle reports.

The Scalpers are back, this time with some long range support.

This kneeling pose is a trademark of the Hired hands sets.  Just about each one comes with one of the ten figures in this type of pose.

Again, each of the ten figures in the Hired Hands box sets is a completely unique pose, divided into five Close Combat and five Long Range.  Stay tuned for more!!

A little off the top

The Scalper unit of the Warrior Nation gets a new recruit!

I am still trying to decide on exactly what sort of markings and colors to put on the Scalpers.  In the story of Wild West Exodus, the Warrior Nation is a vast alliance of tribes from all across the west, so I keep thinking that some variations are called for.

I thought that I might create several different sets of markings... tattoos, warpaint, clothing and so on, which I could also reflect on the tepees which I will create for the terrain boards,

So, stay tuned for much more!!  A preview of the Dark Nation line troop sprue is coming!!

Not the Butt of a joke...

All right, time for a rifle butt to the chops!  The second of the Warrior Nation Scalpers ready for action.

Once I get a few more of these guys ready, it's time for the first action with the Free Peoples.

The first game that I play with them will be pretty character heavy, as it was with the Outlaws.  I want to get a sense of what each of them can do, and then try to create individual posses with their own combos, etc.

The Free Peoples

Time to show you the first of the Warrior Nation Scalpers!  The elite line troops of the Free Peoples.

Like all the line troop boxes, there are 10 figures on the sprues, each one in a completely unique pose.  There are five long range and close combat versions, as usual.

There's an "App" for that...

I thought you might like to see the 'regular' Apparition and War Priest alongside Chief Raven Spirit of the Warrior Nation.

You can see that all the same principles applied to both the smaller Apparition and the larger summoned monster.  I worked the effect from the inside out.

I also attempted to vary the colors a bit, with some parts being more of a reddish, or purple blue.  To contrast that, I also made an effort to get some teal green in there too.

The bigger Apparition had more of an angular sculpt, which made a big difference in my approach to shading it.

The smaller, more rounded Apparition could not have as many dark shades to it.

I am looking forward to seeing how these both play out in the game!

The Energy of the Great Spirit resides within them, making them indestructible.

Chief Raven Spirit can call up to two of these Apparitions at one time, so it looks like I have to make another one!
