Basing in a hurry... using what's on hand

While I was doing a million other things yesterday (all prep work), I decided that I would try to get these guys based in the few spare minutes I had.  I used cork, baked sculpey, and some dryad bits to give the figures a little more pizazz, even though they are only meant for gaming, (not painting contests)!  This is what I had brought along with me, so I tried to make the best use of the supplies!

Here are some Knights that are partially painted that give you an idea of how the foot troops will look once painitng begins on them as well.

More custom built Custodes

Here is the rest of the Custodes squad, including some of the command figures.  I do have the sketches for a dreadnought in Custodes style that I suppose I will need to post at some stage! :-)

Custom built Custodes, Gallery #1

This will be the first of two set of images showing a squad of custom built Costodes which I painted.  Ever since I got the giant Horus Heresy in pictures book a few years ago, I thought custodes would be a very fun project!!

The metals posed a big challenge, with so much darn gold!  I tired to keep certain areas very war, and place the deepent, warmest colors next to each other to create that 'pop'.  I also had to sculpt numerous purity seals on the halberds.

Here we go:
