Shield 'n Sword


Yes, another Reaper mini, which was just instant purchased on Ebay moments ago... that was cool! :-)

Just like the previous miniature, I did the 'light glaze' technique, which is basically an opaque light colored glaze into midtones and even shadow areas.


The idea is to create a greyed down shade that is semi-transparent.  I do this a lot on the Kickstarter videos... especially those concerning skin tones!


I also did something similar on the metals as well.  This created some nice muted reflections in some areas.



It Takes a Thief


Here's a fun mini from Reaper that I have painted three times, I think.


This time around, it was not too elaborate.  I just wanted to test out a few little techniques on the flesh tones, using 'light washes' of glaze colors mixed with what would be considered highlight colors.


I like doing these light washes, since they give the skin a different feel than the surrounding surfaces such as the hair, etc.
