Adding to the eggshell Grey Knights
Here are some WIP images from a while back taken as I made a few new updated Grey Knight terminators in the same color scheme as the units that were included with the Best Painted Adepticon army. They were also the same unit that won the Gold in Games Day 2011.
While red is usually the most difficult of the color schemes to paint, the eggshell color scheme runs a close second. Controlling the color temperatures of those two colors is the primary culprit.
With both the red and this eggshell, a false move with your color mixtures could lead to red terminators that turn orange, or Eggshell terminators that are too grey, losing that little bit of warmness ti the color...
Since this color is the lightest of the 4 schemes I have painted, it makes doing the golds a bit more tricky. The purity seals are even more of a pitfall. If you make the seals too dark to contrast with the armor, you won't be able to to and freehand on them!
The purity seals needed to be more reddish, and the golds had to be particularly intense, with a higher chroma than those on the slate versions.
I think my favorite to paint is probably the slate scheme...
You can see how the colors and shading were developed in these images. I will have the painted photos up a few hours from now...
It has been a while since the first ones were painted, so I had to come up with an entirely new set of colors in order to paint these guys.
Hmm... looks like Jeero is preparing for winter...
