They like their totem!

Once my trusty Lizards caught sight of the new totem, they immediately claimed it for themselves!

They even brought along some of the objective markers... and a swarm.

This makes me even more interested in seeing these things out on the gaming table with the Temple of Blood!

A close up of the little guys.  Blowpipes at the ready!

I forgot how much I used to love my skink blowpipes.  I had dozens of them, and they would roam all over the table creating havoc.  Perhaps I might start doing this again :-)

I wonder what sort of magical terrain this thing will represent in a given game.  Perhaps a Sinister Statue?

Chamber of Secrets

I dug out the Secret Weapon powders once again to make some dual purpose snow bases.

I needed to make some more of them for box art and credits, but also for some Merc figures.

These represent a variety of sculpting materials... sculpey, apoxy sculpt, and cork.

I will post some images of the Merc figures over the next week...

This base is for one of the Urban Warfare Viridians that I painted in snow camouflage as I worked on the jungle and desert camo for the video.

Here's the group shot!

Standing for all time...

The Obelisk!  Painted for the box art of the video, the credits, and such.

It will also make some nice Khemri terrain!

It is always a blast to see pink insulation foam transformed in this way :-)

The Tainted Pharaoh will be very happy!

Multi-tasking

Several projects required green stuff today, so I added a few things to the combo scratch build/bitz terradons.

As you might remember from the last post on these guys, I needed to get some green stuff on the joints where the plastic pieces and Apoxy Sculpt met.

I added some to the neck and to the legs, filling out any gaps and smoothing out textures where needed.

I also added some collars for the reigns to attach, and some rings on the tail to add more terradon bitz as decoration.

I dug out some old terradon bases, since I just wanted to see what I had.  I was also curious how the attachments on the hanging rocks was going to work out.

I wanted to keep that ball and socket joint, since I would like to be able to attach these to some of those pieces of Lizardman terrain.

It seems like the experiment continues to succeed quite well!!!  Stay tuned for more!

The totem rises

I was finally able to get the totem painted for the box art of the DVD!

I attached some of the same vegetation that I used on my Lizardman army.

I would still like to make one or more of these a terradon aerie.  When I finish off the other one, I will try to put some nests on it!

I might still add some snakes to this, just to get a wee bit more color.

Still, it was nice to see it with the flock!

I have some static grass that I will probably add as well.

It's always fun to make terrain!

It should be a blast to play some games with these. :-)

Playing in the mud

Here are the rest of the Weathering and Battle Damage video images.

I had to get all the painting finished in advance, so that as much time as possible could be spent on doing the various effects.

So, the shading and freehand work is all in place...

Then it was time for some sample effects on a piece of board.

Using the sample vehicle, I did the same paint chipping and cracks that had been done on a slightly larger scale.

Armed with another painting guide, I went to work on the second vehicle.

Time to add some rust!

And streaks...

As I mentioned before, I did half of the vehicle in paint...

And the other half with Secret Weapon weathering powders.

Mud!  So messy :-)

Time for a car wash!

Rust, streaks, paint chipping, scorch marks mud and dust all in place.

And a completed vehicle!!!

I was very glad that I had as many freehand designs as possible, since that enhances the effect so greatly.  Making the additional armor skirts was a great success.

And they look nifty as well.
