All kinds of bases :-)

More action from the week of basing.  It still amazes me just how much work there was in setting up each scene (and cleaning up afterwards!).

I also made additional samples than I had originally planned, so as to get a bit more out of each video.

Deepest darkest forest!

Between a rock and a hard place...

Tools of the trade.

A banner day in the Underdark...

Here's a fun figure that I made as an 'extra' to the second freehand video (banners and cloaks).  In some ways, that video was a lot like the basing subjects, where more examples were necessary to convey the concepts.

I painted this one in the same flesh tone as the 'official' pale flesh tone, so another group of images is coming with both of those together...

Cathy as Tank Girl

Here's another case where it just seemed so odd to be working on a tank that was not 40k... or sci-fi in any way.

One of Cathy's current projects is a Sherman tank, which required a little bit of a rethink on assembly strategies...

In some ways, it was quite similar, with lots of little parts to snip off of a sprue.  I guess it was the nature of those parts which seemed so odd :-)

Lots of extra priming to do here!

A few DVD's of Greatest Tank Battles played for ambiance, as well as drumming up a few ideas for storage and markings.

Speaking of stowage!!!

So, we shall see how all this turns out!

And Wage will be there every step of the way to help out.

First bike finished!

OK!  The promised images of the first bike!

Again, lots of challenges with these guys.  This had to be a much cooler white than I normally work with.  It's almost always off white that is similar to ivory...

It should get a little easier with each one...

Stay tuned for the rest!

There's a first time for everything!

As you already know from my previous posts on these bikes, I have never even painted the regular bikes, much less the Forgeworld versions.  So, there is a learning curve!

Here are some WIP images of the first bike.  What made these even more of a challenge was the color scheme, since it was White Scars!  That meant a bit of a change from my normal approach.

Fortunately, when I worked on the Pre Heresy White Scars infantry, I introduced a little more red.  I thought that it really needed such an accent.

With the first bike completed, I am even more glad I chose that route.  I will post the finished images tomorrow.

The bases were nice, as usual, since they are from Dragonforge Designs!

First set of finished images

OK folks!  Here is a huge collection of images that I shot of the completed weathering.

I am also working on all the additional weapons that come with this Secret Weapon Miniatures tank.

Once I have all those, I will post the images of the plasma cannon, multilaser, heavy flamer, and so on...

This is by far the most weathering I have ever done on a vehicle.  I did more than I normally would so that I could show more in the weathering video.

It's very late right now, and I am very exhausted, so I think the rest of the way I will just let the images do the talking!

The week of basing... more images

Every so often during the filming of the various basing videos, I snapped a shot here and there.  With so much set up and take down in each video, there were plenty of chances to do so.

That is very unlike the 'regular' painting videos, which have nowhere near this activity.  For instance, just showing how to make one element of the wood planks video required 9 different set ups and take downs.

It was similar for the chests.  Each time a new element was worked on, it meant setting up a new set of materials and tools.

In contrast, a painting video involves far fewer set ups.  You talk about paints, then about brushes, and commence with the painting!

You can see in this image how much 'stuff' is set up just for a segment that could be a short as 3-4 minutes.

Originally, I was not going to have miniatures included in the basing videos.  However, it seemed important to include a few words about how they will work with actual minis on them :-)

Along the way, I have discovered some other pieces from past projects that show a 'mega' version of the type of base I am featuring.  It was fun to include those!

I will post some closer images of these Lizardman pieces, which were originally designed as movement trays.

Once I began using magnetized trays, these were no longer practical.

At this point, I will embed them in future terrain pieces.
