From the wilds of Norsgard

Does anyone love Wulfen?  I sure do!!

These wonderful miniatures are the creations of Norsgard Games and toys.  Here's a link for you to their Facebook page:

These miniatures were cast in resin.  I have put some bark on the bases which are supplied with the figures.

Each one has a very distinct look and personality.

The resin was very easy to clean up, and quite resilient.  I am really looking forward to painting these!

There are also a number of fun sculpts in the works.  Each of them looks amazing!

As I paint these up, I will be sure to show you all the finished results!  Stay tuned, and go check out Norsgard!!!

The creature from the Black Lagoon

We return to the Black Lagoon to get a few more views of this colossal monster from Mierce Miniatures.

The side views showed much more of the skin colors, while these images let you see the armor from a different perspective.  You also see more of that pinkish color...

They really show that staining process that you saw in the work in progress images.

Also, I wanted you to see some of the water splashes.  On the Octopus man, it wasn't really needed.  On this figure, I thought that the water should splash over the rear foot in particular.

I did a number of layers using the clear Vallejo Water Effects Paste.  However, to get that foamy water splash, I had to mix in a tiny bit of opaque color..

You want to be very careful as you do this, mixing in less than you think you will need.  You can overwhelm the clear nature of the Water Effects Paste very easily.  This happened to me in another test.

A size comparison to a rather large beast in its own right.  That bear is standing on a 60mm base, and the character looks like a goblin riding a puppy.

There's one more set of images to come, and that is this guy side by side with the gigantic Octopus Man.  Even these massive backdrops could barely contain both of them!

Stay tuned...

Another grand experiment begins!

As you know, one of my long term tasks over the next year is to test and play around with the Reaper Clear colors.  There are six in all, and I have been rapidly finding uses for all of them!

I painted several figures using mostly the Clear colors, mixing in a few 'regular' more opaque colors with them, as well as a few of my glazes.

The results were already intriguing, as I learned how versatile they can be!!

I used them as a straight glaze, as regular paint, thinned down with flow improver, and much more!

What better figures to begin such experiments than with the Wooster sisters (yes, that's my name for these fantastic Reaper Miniatures).  This is Betty, and like her sister Lilly, she is very fond of her "pets".  This particular pet is a Reaper BONES dire rat.

These high society ladies have brought their pets to Wappelville with them.  They find Dr. Carpathian's work to be very fascinating, and quite modern!

While very astute and experimental themselves, the Wooster sisters are continuing their experiments in town, courtesy of a lab which their Uncle, Bertram Giles Wooster (owner of the Final Slumber Funeral Parlor) has provided.

Who knows what kind of mischief might be caused if some of their 'pets' should be turned loose in the alleys of Wappelville!!

A mob of Myrmidons

The long promised group shots of the Myrmidons are here!

These are the "standard" Myrmidons, relative as that term might be.

This shot includes some of the Destructor Myrmidons.

They still remain some of the most unusual figures I have ever had to paint!

A view from the top...

After while, crocodile...

This massive creature is from Mierce Miniatures.

To give you an idea of its size, the base is larger than a DVD.

It is a giant mass of resin, and he obviously towers over most things on the battlefield.

It was a challenge to get him on that base, which you can see in an earlier article on the basing process.

Since the bottom of the huge feet were flat, I had to go in "after the fact" and shim the gaps with additional pieces of the tree bark.

It was planned this way all along, and I have done a similar process on other figures as well.

Any other gaps were covered up by the mica flakes, and that did its job very well.

All of this additional work helped to stabilize and secure him to the base.

I used well over a dozen layers of Vallejo Water Effects paste for the churning waves crashing up against the rocks.

I have some views from above, as well as some other size comparison images for you coming up!

The tale of the tape...

Here's the series of size comparison images I promised of the Armored Conveyor and the Krios Heavy Support.

The stark reality of these two vehicles side by side still amazes me.

It's safe to say that the Krios is about the size of a Land Raider.  The open nature of the tread assemblies can make you lose your mind.  Much more of the inner workings are exposed than one might expect at first.

I really love this side by side view.

Even though the two vehicles were painted in the beginning and end of the Mechanicum project, the Shaded Basecoat technique made it no problem to match colors!

I have more groups shots coming... Myrmidons, Thallax, in various combinations.

I now leave you with this.  Cheers!!

Can You Survive?

Let's combine a few fun things!  Zombicide, Reaper BONES minis, and some Secret Weapon barriers.

Do you think you can survive the Zombiepocalypse?

Disco Stu leads the way, jumpin' the Police Cruiser and "mowing the lawn"... cutting down zombies left and right!

For good measure, he would pop a cap in a zombie that managed to elude Stu's new ride.

This was the most zombie kills I have ever gotten in a game that didn't involve tossing a cocktail into a very crowded building!

It's very fun to have some of the painted minis out there, and a few of Mr. Justin's fabulous construction cones and jersey barriers really adds to the experience.

You might think it's looking bleak for Stu, but not to fear.  He can electric slide his way out of a bummer situation, and get that funky disco workin'!!!
