Zoom! More jetbikes...

OK!  Another jetbike.  As usual, just as I had worked out the best system for painting these... there were no more to paint.  You will be seeing many more images of these in the coming days. :-)

The second splinter rifle is magnetized, so not to worry about that.  In fact almost all of the bikes are magnetized to carry various weapons, from blasters to heat lances to cluster caltrops.

So stay tuned for much more!

All the rage... The other batch of Vestals

I will be posting some of the Raging Heroes Sci Fi Blood Vestals over the next few days.  There are two batches of five Vestals made by Raging Heroes.  You have already seen one group of 5.  To match my list, I had to use one GW Wyche (to get the second shardnet and impaler).

I love the dynamism of the poses, as always!

There is also much more area to do some freehand designs, whereas the GW versions have the wyche suits with a few 'viewing holes' here and there :-)

The mosaic base gets a mini...

Here's the finished second objective marker.  I added a fun Reaper miniature to the mosaic decorative base.

I have been working on the story of the army, as you know.  What's really fun is that it will allow me to create multi-part campaigns, just like the ones we did for the Lizardmen vs Chaos Demons.

I have painted a few more of the slaves to put on the army board.  Images of the board construction will be posted as soon as possible... stay tuned!!

More jetbike action!

Zoom Zoom!  Back to the jetbikes.

These have been very interesting to paint, for many reasons.  Since I tried so hard to make each one as unique as possible, it has made it a lot harder to establish the usual painting patterns that I would normally develop to paint whole squads such as these.

There are 'double hulls', extra wings, pistols, weapons, etc.  Each one makes it so different from the last!

It has still been fun, though!

Stay tuned for much more!!!

The view from above...

OK!  A few images to show you some different angles of the Raider.

The captors become the captives...

Here's one of the finished objective markers.

While I am trying to keep the full story of the army a surprise until it is fully written, I do want to say that the world which the Dark Eldar are invading drew their attention not only by the existence of the Hippodrome.

Something else drew them, a suffering which permeated space and time itself.

This world is very much like the Rome of Nero, with witches, mutant and heretics being thrown to the wolves, quite literally, in the Hippodrome.  Mass executions were popular entertainment on this world.

The ruler of this world even begins to have fantasies that he is the Emperor of Man.

In the end, the 'nobelmen' and women of this society, who always owned slaves, will be themselves enslaved by the Dark Eldar.  The oppressors will now be locked in the same cages as those whom they oppressed.

It's gonna be fun!

Almost there...

Here are some images of the Raider in its final stages.  There are still more things that need to be done with this.

I have some weathering powder stuff that I want to do, as well as trying to magnetize the main weapon.

There is one last special thing that I really hope I have time to do.  That will remain a surprise for now!

There was a lot to learn working on this piece.  As you saw in the WIP post, it was painted in separate parts as much as possible.  I have a Reaper that will require some fancy footwork.  That will be an interesting project!

Even more dramatic will be the Tantalus.  So huge!!!

I took a bunch of pictures from above, so I will be posting those later tonight or tomorrow... Stay tuned!
