Work in Progress: Necropolis Knights
Once I had the bases painted, it was time to start working on the Knights themselves! On Wednesday I started by laying down the initial colors, keeping the color scheme of the Stalkers in mind:
Obviously, the bodies of these serpents are completely different from the Stalkers. It did create some heavy duty thought process to figure out how to make them look similar.
There was a very fun happy accident in that the bodies of the snakes intertwine with the design on the bases! Unfortunately, 99% of the folks looking at this at Games Day will never see it.
As usual, the idea was to lay down all the colors as quickly as possible, using a technique that I posted yesterday.
I decided to go with more of a metal look to the backs of the hoods, leaving the front to have more of the color...
In keeping with the shaded basecoat technique, I continued to lighten the colors everywhere, using my trusty #4 flat sable brush!!
I tried to get everything to the glazing stage by the time I had to pack up. I was pretty much there after 7 hours...
Over the last few days, I did the dark glazes on both the knights and the serpents:
Today I did some more of the details on the knights... the serpents will be next.
So this is how it is left for the time being. Hopefully by Sunday the snakes will be done as well!!
