Fallen Angels: Warhammer 40k Dark Angels converted to Chaos

This was a fun batch of minis I did years ago.  The base of the colors on the robes was Shadow Grey.  In fact, this scheme is so neat, I am going to use it as an alternate theme color wise for my upcoming Easterling army (they have been hanging around with Ringwraiths too long, I suppose).

Emperor's Champion minis are handy for just about everything.  It was quite tricksy to make him Fallen!

  1. Very nice. The EC model is indeed great, I've seen him used for so much! Nice simple figure and the eye flows over him so easily.

  2. I have used that same figure to do Grey Knight justicars... I guess a finecast version might make it easier to do a Thousand Sons version. I have some extra heads around somewhere...

  4. Hey, I love this work.

I'd kill for a rough guide on the colors, if not the application.
Looking into the option of picking up a fallen army with this edition's starter set.

    Thanks in advance!

    1. I am pretty sure that I used shadow grey on the cloaks, highlighted with fortress grey. The armor sections were a mix of Black and ice blue.

It was a very limited palette, which was a very fun and different project! I hope that helps...

    1. My black was a black and sky blue mix. It started out as more of a mid tone, and then I used a blue/black glaze mix to gradually shade it darker and darker.

I used a light grey (like astronomicon grey to create the highlights.

There was not a precise mix or anything like that. My original color was basically a 50/50 blend of the sky blue and black. I think you will like the color that mix makes!
