Forgeworld Theodore Brucker on Reaper

Here's something just completed today.  It has been an ongoing project for many months, and it was nice to finally see it on the base and finished!  I don't know the manufacturer of the base, but it was very nice, although it took days just to get the base fully painted :-)

The rider had to be painted in 5 un-assembled pieces, which always makes things interesting when it domes time to glue it all together.,  There are always unforeseen surprises, and that was the case here.  It was not anything tragic, but it added more time to complete the effort.

Once more, I respectfully request your votes on CooLimiOrNot for Theo and his nifty ride!

Tainted World Eaters Predator #1 (lascannon)

OK, this set has the images with the lascannon sponsons and the storm bolter on the turret.

It's interesting how much the chaos marine in the turret changes the look of the vehicle so much!  Again, the sponsons were made interchangeable with a few magnets.  All it took was a tiny bit of a sprue (those little round sections that you find all over them) and some K&G magnets!

Tainted World Eaters Predator #1

We are almost through the entire vehicle gallery on the Tainted World Eaters!  Here is the first of two predators.

I magnetized the sponsons, so that heavy bolters could be switched out for lascannons.  This gallery shows the heavy bolter option, and the Havoc launcher.  Tomorrow I will post the lascannon version with the storm bolter on the turret.

Here are both predators together:

Since you have seen the majority of this army, I thought it's about time to show you the army board that went with them.  Obviously, it is in the same sort of style as the Grey Knights board that I made for Adepticon.

Eldar Wraithlord

Here is another piece of the Eldrad color scheme Eldar army.  This time, a wraithlord.

When I was pondering my own Eldar army, I had thought about a bunch of wraithlords with Warlock babysitters on jetbikes (in squads themselves).

Chaplain miniature as Grey Knights Grand Master

As I have mentioned previously, the chaplain in terminator armor has been a favorite of mine.  Like the Emperor's Champion, there seems to be no end of new ways to convert it into something else!  One of those chaplain minis was quite handy to create a Grey Knights Grand master.

72mm large scale Chaos Mounted Hero from CoolMini

I don't get the chance to paint figures that are larger than 30mm scale very often, and certainly 72mm figures such as this are even more rare.  In fact, this is one of two that I can think of off hand.

This larger scale provided some excellent canvas for loads of Chaosy freehand!  I tried to have something from all four chaos gods on this piece.  The Tzeentch designs are mostly marking on the horse's body, and the terrain elements that I sculpted.

This big guy is also on CMON, so give Wappelville a hand and please vote on him!

Here are a few WIP images, the first of which gives you an idea of how the base was sculpted (with Apoxy sculpt and green stuff).

And I have some shots that I took before I did most of the darker shading, tinting and freehand:

Forgeworld Greater Demon of Khorne

Greater Demon?  More like super friggin' huge demon of resin doom!

It must have taken weeks just to get this thing ready to prime.  At least it felt that way.  And, being every bit the foolish but evil genius, decided it would be a great idea to do reflected lava effects on the underside of the gigantic wings.  Yes, I paid for that idea.  I was able to get some neat little demon faces on the armor here and there, which was fun.  There were several other details, like the face, that were nicely sculpted and I enjoyed painting them as well.  The wings had lots of deep cuts in the sculpting, and that made them less fun to paint, even without the reflected light.

I had to paint each wing BEFORE I could attach it, since they were so huge, and the cavities so deep.  That meant I had to do a lot of pinning and green stuff over lots of painted areas, which always makes you feel great!  The I had to control the monstrosity to paint those areas without messing up everything else.

I believe that this placed 4th at Games Day in the Open Category in 2010.

These shots give you an unhindered view of the base.  I threw in some IG bits, and did loads of lava effects.  Between that and the marble, it was a lot of work, but it certainly made everything tie intogether very well.  It also made a very nice and stable base for game play!
