More Confrontation Minis

Here is the next batch of Confrontation minis.  This ogre set was quite the project, since the ogres are pretty daintily posed in some cases.  There were a lot of fragile parts, given the softer metals used in the casting.  They certainly are unique!







The little snotlings that went with them were pretty wild as well.

A few Blood Bowl stadiums

Here are just a few of the blood bowl stadiums which I have built over the years.  The orc field was made in 2004, almost entirely out of pink foam.  The scoreboard had moving counters on it.

The Glacier Dome was made in the 1990's... probably '96 or '97.  I had no idea what I was doing back then!  I have painted several Ice Bergs teams since then (usually chaos dwarf).  I am painting the newest incarnation now.  I am trying to match the colors of the original 1990's team as closely as possible, which is very fun.  The penguins were made from sculpey, and most of the board of foam core.  It is hard to believe that it has survived all these years.







This is one of a few action shots I took between a Dwarf team and a norse team converted from Celtos minis with some Crocodile Games Wendigoes as Ulfwerners and Snow Trolls.

As I pour through several old galleries, I came across the Confrontation archive.  They were a very innovative mini company, with a whole new approach to sculpting and painitng.  Their catalogue alone was seomthing to behold!  We still have one of them after all these years.

A return to Reaper

OK!  I promised more Reaper minis, so I collected a new batch of images.  There are still many more, which are 'hidden' in other directories and folders.  The figures you have been seeing so far were mostly my own projects.  I painted loads of Reaper minis for commissions, and those have their own project folders on a different computer.

Ilyad Miniatures... wish they were still around!

I think there are several more Ilyad figures to be found in my old galleries 'o painted stuff, but this is a good start.  I always liked the product from this company, which was super detailed resin minis.  They were a slightly larger scale (32 mm?), but the casts were very solid.

The resin was very strong, there were very few bent parts, and even fewer air bubbles!  Almost none, in fact.  Loads of fantastic details, which hopefully these pictures show.  I did need a razor saw to get the minis off the square bases (I assume they used it as a de-facto gate), but they went well on my usual marble/tile bases.  The most fun I had on a base is the mosaic style base that looks like it's from Pompeii.

The giant was huge.  The base is probably 100 x 100 mm square, if not more.

Freebooter minis

Werner Kloke has always been one of my favorite sculptors, since the details tend to be very clean, and the faces have eyes that are large enough to create some extra personality.  Hands, armor, weapons, all were nicely sculpted and easy to paint.

The poses and composition were also a nice balace between dynamic and relaxed, and composed well.

Photos of the Temple of Kroak

Here is a collection of images of a piece that I sculpted back in 2004. 

It is made entirely out of sculpey, so it must have weight 8-10 pounds!  It was very massive, as the 28mm figures show in a relative size comparison.  The figure of Kroak was also sculpted from scratch using sculpey. 

I have learned a great deal about constructing things such as this since then.  There are a number of WIP images of a second sculpey temple (the first Temple of Blood), so that will give you a pretty good idea of how this structure was built.

Fortunately, I made some press moulds of the various icons on this temple.  You might recognize a few of them on the Temple of Blood army board version. 

Due to size limitations, these pictures really don't show the full grandeur of the Temple, but it gives you a hint!
