Casket of Skulls... and souls.

It's hard to believe there are still Tomb Kings items that I have not yet photographed on the nifty Hangar 18 backdrops!  How did I miss the very first thing that I painted for the Tomb Kings.... The Casket!

Here's the story of the army:

Some pictures of the Casket in the individual parts:

Sketches of the army board, which I am hoping to reshoot with the new lights:

I couldn't resist trying out some of the other backdrop colors with this!

  3. i always connect this one back to Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Your freehand work always connects well with whats going on with the model on both this and the slithery snake thingys whose name i cant remember!

  5. I love your painting James and I've learned a lot from you..but the bases on your tomb kings just don't jive with me. My eyes can't really figure out where to look. Sorry for the negative comment. I really do love your work.

    2. No worries. Your models, your style. Just offering a critique on the visuals. I benefit from getting critique, so just trying to help. I understand if you're not interested.

    3. I always appreciate your thought on things, of course! Pretty vital to have the input, to step outside yourself and such. I just wanted to pass along why they were in the more garish style :-)
