One down and dirty way to do that is to paint some faded veins on the head, arms, etc. The idea is that you paint thos somewhat faintly, and then glaze over a bit of the flesh color over that.
It sets the veins "under" the flesh colors, in a maner of speaking.
I love skin on grafter. Its subtle and yet distinctive.

Adding glaze medium or flow improver can help a lot. If you work quickly enough with glaze medium, you can paint wet into wet...
