Primarch Sanguinius

I thought this was a very nice sculpt that not only captured the look of the Blood Angels Primarch, but in terms of scale, it was a bit larger in scale, as a primarch should be!

  1. Hi James!

I'm sure you've said it many times, but ¿What colors do you use fot that impressive NMM? It's your trademark and I'm sure you're one of the best painters out there of that technique.
¿And how do you achieve these smooth color transitions? ¿Layering?

    Thanks!!
    Sorry for my bad English!

  2. I never use the same color twice for any of my minis, so I cannot give you exact colors. But this information could still be helpful.

I can say that for golds such as this, I like to have colors that resemble snakebite leather, which I will mix with earth tones and yellowish greens for shadow areas. The lighter colors are warmer "golden" yellows (could also use an Iyanden Darksun). I will highlight them with an ivory if I want my highlights to be warmer, but sometimes regular white if they need to be cooler (the the shadow areas would be warmer.

I also like to have some rey-down purples, such as GW hormagaunt purple, which are very nice for shadow areas (could possibly even use a shadow grey type color as well).

    I hope this is helpful!
