Classic Yvonne

Way back in 2003 when we were first figuring out this miniature painting stuff, I had gotten some of these Yvonne figures (there were a few different poses) to convert for Blood Bowl teams.

Instead, they ended up being the perfect laboratory for learning how to do Sky-earth NMM.  There is a perfect variety of surfaces... sword, armor, and so on.  You have some flat areas, as well as some much more complicated rounded areas, such as the plates over the lower legs.

I wish I could find some of the original photos from those first efforts back in '02, '03... it would make an interesting side by side!

Itchin' for a fight...

Or maybe he is just itchy.  Looks like he won't have to worry about athlete's foot!

This time, I wanted to contrast some warmer browns against the cooler purple of the pustules and sores.  That meant using some glaze medium to work in that semi-transparent light color which you will se in so many of the videos.

Those 'light glazes' have become an essential technique on every miniature.  It can be especially helpful on figures such as this where I need some unusual color combinations.

Somebody was very messy...

Here's one of the figures I used for the Bloody Mess painting video.  For obvious reasons!

It's from Raging Heroes, and it is a very fun miniature to paint.  There are lots of fun little things going on.  It is very flexible in terms of what you could use it for as well.  This is the fantasy version... there is also a 40k version.

There a lot of crazy color transitions here as well.  So many different types of green, purple, and so on.

These pictures show the base a little better.  Mr. Justin's set of body parts from Secret Weapon really did the trick to set a mood!

The time of the orc has come

OK, another Rotter, another race.  This time, slugorc!

There are two of just about every race, which has made this a pretty huge team.

There are also many extras, such as turn markers, coaches, and so on!

The Ice Age cometh

Hey, remember the good old days of global warming?  Mild winters and all that.  Yes indeed.

Anyway, I thought you folks from more mild climates might enjoy an update.  This is what Wappelville looked like when we got back on December 29th.

Fast forward to an hour ago, when I was out shoveling.

Mission #1 was to knock the 3 foot high snow drift off of the awning without burying myself in snow.  I sort of accomplished that.  Drift mostly gone, but the wind dumped half of it on me.

Look to the East.

And to the West.

This area was once an inland tropical sea.  Then it was buried under miles of ice.  It should return to that state by Tuesday.  I will soon become like the Trilobite fossils that I used to dig up from Thornton Quarry...

Three cheers...

As the playoffs get under way in crazy fashion, it's time for some cheerleaders.

Rah rah!  Cough. Gurgle. Nurgle!

Back to the Rotters next... Ork style. :-)

He's dead, Jim

The next Rotter for the Slime Bay Packers is rather unfortunate.  Bad enough that he's dead... but now he has to be a Rotter too!  Bummer for him.

Bones and slime... does that not just reek football!!!?

More slugs on the way!!!!
