Here's another pre-2010 figure. The miniature itself must be very old, because I was told that this was GW's version of Leman Russ back in the day. Tiny little bugger for a big bad Primarch! :-)
Compared to the new Forgeworld Primarchs, he's even tinier.
Nice little doggie...
He is from the late 80s, came with two wolves (that's what his left hand is holding), and appeared in the original Citadel Painting Guide. An image search for "leman russ rogue trader" will turn up some of the official art (and some stranger stuff from Rogue Trader!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! I was hoping someone could fill me in like that, since I have been curious for so long!
DeleteNo worries. And I think you did him justice - now all you need are those wolves :-)
DeleteA truely Great Wolf! You have captured him perectly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words!
DeleteGreat work on a classic mini! The wolf pelt i really natural looking :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! These older minis can sometimes be a real challenge to paint!
DeleteYeah, I am discovering that myself. Soft details needs lots of contrast to sell it. Luckily I got this set of awesome painting dvds that has shown me a few tricks for achieving better contrast ;)
DeleteHe He... :-)
DeleteWe found early on that the lack of sharp details makes the whole glazing thing much more tricky! Have fun with those DVD's!! Use The Force for good only!
