Basing in a hurry... using what's on hand
While I was doing a million other things yesterday (all prep work), I decided that I would try to get these guys based in the few spare minutes I had. I used cork, baked sculpey, and some dryad bits to give the figures a little more pizazz, even though they are only meant for gaming, (not painting contests)! This is what I had brought along with me, so I tried to make the best use of the supplies!

Great bases
ReplyDeleteI've tried using sculpy (after seeing it used to great effect by yourself) and liked it at first but found that it didn't take much to break the model (and the sculpy glued to the feet) away from the sculpy base. Any ideas?

All of our miniatures are pinned to the base, so there is no way they are going anywhere :-) It also allows us to paint the mini on a dowel rod, while painting the base by itself. Once mininature and base are painted, I drill a hole in the base, and in goes the pin.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to have your sculpey supported by cork or something else if it is going to be a thin sheet. You can see on these figures that the sculpey is pretty thick. I have some Army of the dead I am working on where the sculpey is even thicker! I hope that helps!
What bits are those deamons from that you used on the infantry bases? I am alwyas looking for imps nad small deamons and those were perfect.
