We have a casualty...

OK... here is the first of many rotters!  Since these are essentially dead players that have been given the 'gift' of life by Nurgle, there are many races.  There are orcs, humans, dwarves, and so on.

They all have these slug like bodies, which is why I went with the swampy bases.

Lots more to come!

The battle for something continues...

OK, time for the rest of the images.  As I mentioned in the previous post, this was a battle from years ago between traitor and loyalist Guard, along with Demonhunter and Chaos space marines.

I don't remember any specifics, but it did showcase the scratch built Chimeras, Dreadnoughts and Land Raider.

This command bunker seems to be the focal point of the battle.  You can see Rich's Traitor Guard backing up the Chaos space marines here.

The Chimeras were filled with small squads of stormtroopers, each equipped with special weapons.  They were really more of a distraction, trying to draw off as much of the Chaos stuff as possible.

The main thrust appeared to be at the command bunker.

Uh oh, this doesn't look good for those Stormtroopers!  Looks like those Chaos spawn are gonna much a bunch of Guard.  Why not, I hear they stay crunchy in milk!

Judging by the look on Rich's face here, that diversion just might be working!  Notice the Land Raider, terminators and dreadnought marching towards that bunker...

Rich is very happy about wiping away most of the Chimeras and Guardsmen.  No biggie, those countless billions are there to be sacrificed... or else they are using up a whole lot of space!

Look who dropped in!  Some Seraphim, toting some nasty mini meltas.  Say goodbye to the purple predator!

Backed by the firepower of the Traitor Guard, a sortie is made by the Chaos marines in some Rhinos.  I believe that A.J.'s Tanith are just about to show up behind Rich's lines.

As usual, all of A.J.s troops die gloriously in the attempt.

However, the sacrifice is not in vain, since ultimate victory is achieved!  A massive amount of blood is spilled, but the vile taint is removed from whatever this was!

The Great Battle of... Something

Once again, I ran into some images from a big battle involving the Demonhunters.  Unlike the previous batch, these didn't have titles on them.  As a result, I can't give you any particulars on what happened exactly, but the pictures do sort of speak for themselves.

This was a battle pitting Loyalist Guard and Demonhunters vs Traitor Guard and Chaos Marines.  It was A.J. and I against Rich, as usual.

I thought this might be interesting for you to see, since it was the only battle I could find that images of all the scratch sculpted vehicles.  The 4 Chimeras, the Land Raider and both dreadnoughts were scratch built.

Here's Rich's Traitor Guard...

And his Chaos Space Marines.

Here is the set up.  I don't recall when this battle played out.  My guess is 2009 or 2010.

As I looked at the pictures, I could see that it was another objective based game, although the C 'n C area in the middle of the board appeared to be of significant importance.

Looks like a Chimera/Raider rush all along our left.  The white puff balls are obviously smoke launchers :-)

You can see AJ on the right, so this was probably 4 years ago.  It was one of the few 5th edition games I ever played.  Rich seems to be contemplating his next move.

It seems like the Chimeras survived for the most part.  A.J. had Tanith Guardsmen that were going to outflank on the right and the read of the Traitor Guard, but we had to wait a while for that.

I will post the rest of the images later tonight, so stay tuned for the exciting conclusion!!!!

The Four Pestigors of the Apocalypse

The Pestigor group complete.  Next up, the Rotters and Warriors!

Lots more claws, that's for sure :-)

Time for more football :-)

Well, this guy should be able to dish out a serious stiff arm or two, or three, or four!

I guess he will get fined for handing out a four-arm shiver.  Ouch.  Yup, been that kind of week.

A 'Blast' from the past...

Here's something from many moons ago, when Rich and I played lots of 4th edition 40k.  Usually, it was his Chaos vs my Demonhunters.

This particular game was a scenario that we created, called Defend the Factorum.  It was an 8 turn game, with the ultimate goal to get the most bodies inside the Factorum by the end of the game.

There was a staggered approach to deployment.  The defender began with very little inside the factory... I think it was just an HQ and some troops.

The attacker had much more coming in at the start of the game, but had to deal with 2 sets of hidden minefields.  Two were anti-vehicle, and 2 more were anti-infantry.  These were deployed secretly by the defender by designating their position on a grid.

Here are the forces before the game.

As I mentioned before, the attackers came on the board with a good chunk of their forces.  The defenders received reinforcements at various intervals.

You could choose to get on the board earlier, but they would show up farther away from the factory.

This let the attackers advance rapidly at the start of the game, as there was not much in the factorum to oppose them.  However, advance carefully, since you never know where those mines might be!

The attackers still manage to reach the walls.

However, serious reinforcements appear for the defense!

The attackers attempt to outflank with some late arrivals of their own.

You can see the disks in front of the factorum representing the minefields.

For the most part, there was a lot of crazy fights that happened inside the structure, although there were some very unusual match ups outside.  I think one involved an Inquisitor retinue vs a Defiler. :-)

Let's just say this was a very bloody fight!  Not much left alive by the end...

I made these counter sheets for our games, which were very handy.  I still have them to this day.

Yum. Fried Brains

Well, at least that's how my brains are right now.  I guess the last 48 hours took way more out of me than I thought.  Been a very rough week overall.

One more walker joins the bunch.

As usual, it is fun painting these guys.  Just enough detail to do some fun things, but you can get through them quickly enough :-)

Those blood walkers!  Always showing up around those bloody sewers!!!

Off to get some more brains.

Looks like Ranger Rick and Disco Stu are in a sticky spot.

Leave it to Stu to pick 'em up and set 'em down...
