Winter color Harlequins on sculpted bases: Gallery #1

This group of figures was done with a wintry set of hues, set on scuplted rock bases to enhance the theme.  The bases were done with sculpey.

While I didn't actually do the sculpt itself, I enjoyed painting this a great deal.  There were lots of very fun details!

Adepticon 40k Tournament Objective Markers, Grey Knights

I just finished these off last night, after yet another long day of working on the Civil War Dwarfs army board.  These may not even be necessary, but they look neat and will be nice decoration to the army board. ;-)  I put some extra weights in the bottom, and they are magnetized as well.

I had intended to do several more of these, with Inquisitors, cherubs, etc., but time is running out, and this will have to suffice!

Sanguinary Guard gallery # 2

Here's another set of Sanguinary Guard images.  I believe the base color was a Tausept Ochre mixed with walnut, or hormagaunt purple in the shadow areas where I wanted it to be slightly cooler.  I even mixed scorpion green with some flesh tones to create some of the mid range colors which needed to be warmer, but with a greenish touch.

If I needed a very light color that was a cooler hue, I would mix some bright yellows with space wolves grey, being careful not to make it too greenish!

Adepticon team tournament army board nearly finished!!

OK, another hard day of work on the army board.  Here is the house in its final stages:






Marty had a great idea to put Lee and Grant in the house, so he created these images for the windows...

Sanguinary Guard Squad one, Gallery #1

Just like the Dante I posted last night, these Sanguinary Guard posed quite a challenge to paint in NMM.  As with Dante, I had to have a wide assortment of colors out on the pallette, covering a range of color temperatures, etc.  Their armor was more intricate than Dante's, so it got interesting!

This particular mini presents quite a challenge when considering doing NMM with the golds, since every pat of it is gold, and not just trim here and there, etc.  Color temperature is just as crucial here as with SE-NMM.  I used a lot of muted purples and greens to get shadow areas, while leaving some of the warmest yellows for highlights on the upper sections.
