Back to the unusual, and that would be the Myrmidons.
I have said before that these are by far the most unusual things I have ever had to paint.
They present a number of challenges... much of which has to do with getting your brush into certain spots. Also, the shapes just don't correspond to what you would normally expect. It makes it more difficult to determine where lights and darks should go, and so on.
Good news, your struggles with the sculpt don't show at all. Now is that because you chose a pale neutral cloak to place all those details on and help frame them so the eye can make sense of them?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks! :-) Yes, I did hope that a lighter, more neutral setting might hide some of the oddities in the sculpting of the cloak. Also, I thought it might be a nice contrast to the sharper, more 'planar' surfaces of the armor, weapons and such...
DeleteReally. Not only unusual, but just too damn cool guy. Great job on this one:-). The greenish glow on her back really well done ... These reflections on the pipes look great.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked that bit, as I felt it was very important to do so! That seemed to lend a sense of scale, and more of a focal point in what was a sea of various parts and surfaces :-)
DeleteOne of my favorite parts about this expression of paint, is that it invokes memories of the old final fantasy one white mage.

The movement of the robes and that color just bring a smile to my face.
Thanks, as always!!! :-)
