Krell, Lord of Undeath

Here was a fun miniature, which I used as a color laboratory to try out some new paints I just aquired.  I wanted him to have a slightly ethereal look to him.  A bit 'glowy' but also coporeal.

He is up on ebay right now... a link to the auction:

  2. Thanks for following the blog! Much appreciated. Looking at all these old galleries that I have used in this first month of the blog has been shocking at times. When I see minis that I painted 11+ years ago, it can be a bit scary. By 2005, I had started to do "then and now" images, where I took a mini I painted years earlier, and then painted it again in the exact same colors. When they were put in a photo side by side with the dates above each one, it really told a story! I bet that would be a fun thing for you to do!

    1. I may do that someday then! I'm brand new to the mini painting so I haven't got much experience under my belt yet, but I've started a blog as well to keep track of my attempts! Your skill is really quite an inspiration.

  3. I saw your blog! You are definitely miles ahead of where I started... many miles! I had absolutely no idea what I was doing :-) It took a long time to develop all the various techniques. I had to translate painting in 2 dimensions (watercolors and pastels) into this whole 3D thing!

There is no substitute for painting a whole ton of minis to develop those techniques. I hope that it is fun and gratifying along the way!
