The Purple People Eaters

OK, just about the last of the Demonettes.  Sad to say that, since they are so much fun to work with!  Well, All Raging Heroes minis are this way, so that would be a bit of a broken record.

My only regret is that I never got a chance to take a shot of a large group of them.  It would have been really neat with all of their Chaosy bases!!

Making use of the bases

Another Sister in this scheme, utilizing another one of those decorative marble bases.

I used to do these marble style bases for just about everything... especially 40k stuff.  Not only was it easier to place the relatively flat feet of the figures onto the bases, it was easier to identify them as well.  I could put all sorts of markings on the base to not only designate which army it was from, but rank, weapons, and so on.

Yes, I was asked one day it is was possible for me to play a game of 40k using only my bases... and I could answer yes! ;-)

Fun with sculpey parts!

Here's a conversion I did many years ago after I made that first squad of Grey Knight terminators.  I took some generic space marine bodies, chopped them up, extended the legs and arms, and then did a whole lot of sculpting with brown stuff and green stuff.

That original unit won a gold Demon for 40K Squad in 2007.  I made some other specialty characters like this one soon after.  I sculpted the incinerator out of grey extra firm sculpey.  The sword is a very old Grey Knight bit.

I did some other sculpey parts on the back, such as the vents.  You can see the places where green stuff was used to get a finer detail...

I still miss these guys.  Hopefully I will be able to recreate them one day.

Hey, finally time to put some minis on those bases!

Bases are even more fun with minis on them :-)  There are some other Sisters in this set in previous posts...

Havin' fun in the swamps

I think I had the most fun with this guy out of all the snail bodies.

I am pretty sure the original figure was metal, since the top of this is very heavy!

The Greatswords are going to be fast and furious over the next week.  My favorite part of doing these guys are the metal surfaces.

The faces are pretty much all exactly the same, and the clothes can get pretty repetitive, but placing the shiny stuff at different angles means that I can reflect different colors here and there.

Nothing like reflecting some yellow shirts into swords!
