The Three Amigoes

Back to the Napoleanics!

I will never get over the sculpting commonalities with earlier era GW sculpts.

My guess is that the next time I need more horses to pull my Khandish chariot conversions, I could probably find some great horses (minus saddles, of course), for a great price.

I think Cathy would prefer that to me continually pirating more Riders of Rohan horses! :-)

Some of the mould lines do end up in more 'unfortunate' places on these guys than they do on your typical fantasy miniatures.

These are a nice 'step away' kind of miniature, keeping the other kinds of work a tiny bit fresher, as it offers that change of pace from Fantasy and 40k.

  3. You know not that long ago I was thinking to myself, "I wonder when The mad scientist will re-visit the Napoleonic cavalrymen?" And sure enough one week later here they are. They look fantastic and I have shown them to the Napoleonic experts at my club and they have nothing but praise for them so well done that man! Are you planning to do any other historical miniatures like Saga figures or WW2 15 - 20mm?

    1. Glad you liked these! Sometimes I am not sure if people want to see Historical stuff.

I would like to do all kinds of historical pieces, as it would be that nice change of pace, and fit right in with my love of history!

  4. I wonder if these figs were sculpted by the Perry twins? They did a lot of the early GW stuff. And I believe they were doing historicals even back then.

Yes, more historicals please! : )

    1. I am sure that these were... or at least that is what everyone tells me!

  5. I never got around to asking you this when you posted the big bird pics. Do you find that real creatures are easier to paint(in terms of color schemes and so forth) because of your 2D painting skill and experience?

    1. I think you are right about that. I have done a number of wildlife paintings, and at this point, I don't even need to see references for most critters! I have painted so many wolves, eagles, owls, lions and so on...
