Painting the Hierotitan: early stages
Today we hit the road to drop off some items left over from Adepticon at Marty & Kimberly's place. It did offer me a chance to show them the army, but also have a bigger work space to do the painting of the titan!
I knew that I wanted this to look like my Ushabti, which you have seen me warming up on the last few days! I also wanted to have a lot of the Stalker color scheme reflected in this piece as well. It started out by establishing where the green colors would be, as well as the golds and browns.
Then I started putting in some of the metal colors, and continuing to work the greens.
At this point, it was time to work on some of the "flesh" tones, which were done in much the same way as the stalkers. I began with a very dark purple, then a nauseating blue type color, and then some grayed down ultramarine blue.
Here is the Titan on the army board to see how it is looking against everything else. I was very happy to see how its brighter colors set the walls further back, as they are so muted in comparison! A little "false perspective". Ha!
Guinevere decided to make an unusual daytime appearance...
Now I am working rapidly in all areas, such as the flesh tones, the weapon, and the armor.
More shots on the army board!
Now I work more and more of the fluorescent paints, just like the ones I used on the recent Ushabti:
Here is where I had to stop for the day. I will switch to some of the small items, like Tomb decorations, shields, etc. now that it is very dark...
The colors are very striking and your style is amazing. Each piece looks fantastic as an individual, but seeing them all on the board like that just blows me away.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It has been a treat every so often to see everything together! That gives me an extra boost of energy each time! :-)
