Would you like some weapons with that?

This is the third of three Forgeworld Wasps.  I finally got through the last of the weapon bits at 2 AM.

I think it goes without saying that it took me longer (as in LOTS longer) to paint (and magnetize) all those extra weapon pieces than the Wasp itself!  My goodness.  There were two occasions when I thought I was finally done with them, only to realize there was another pile somewhere.

I do not want to see any of those weapon bits for a good long time!

  1. I love that color scheme. I have about 1 week trying to get that gray and I can not lol. Could you tell me about that mixing is achieved?

    1. I have used a variety of grays for these, given whatever I had on hand. the last one had a lot of the new GW base Mechanicus standard gray. I shaded it darker with glazes of black GW wash, and then lightened it with a lighter Vallejo grey (sorry, the name is worn off the bottle!)

With organic shapes like Eldar vehicles, it can be tougher to get good shading. The bulky SM vehicles, by contrast, give you easier to find locations for highlights and shadows.

All I can say is that using the very controlled glazes of black was was a nice way to get incrementally darker in those recesses, and on the curved surfaces.

BTW, I used a much larger brush, like a NO 8 or 9 round, with a nice tip, to do most of the vehicle. This let me work quickly, and cover lots of surface in a precise way.

      I hope that is helpful!
      Good Luck!
