Second Eldar Fire Prism (cracking energy effect)

This is a freshly completed piece, but it is actually the second of its kind that I have done.  A few years ago, the buyer requested a Fire Prism with some manner of sculpted energy effect.  That was the "old style" Prism with the metal turret pieces.  I definitely liked working with the plastic version better in terms of the weight and worries about top heaviness!

It made creating the crackling effect trickier, though, since everything was so stretched out with the longer beam.  Here are the pictures:

  1. WOW, seriously this is hands down the best looking Eldar vehicle I have seen, so much awesome here, from paintnting to modeling to the OSL and color scheme. Would like to throw you a link on my Blogger's Best series.

  2. Thanks! I am glad someone enjoyed this piece, since it was so much work! I don't know how many times I had to touch up something due to me losing my grip on one of the akward shaped parts, causing the brush filled with paint to hit an area that I had finished earlier ... craziness!

  4. Your work is very impressive. Do you do commission work?

  5. Yes, that is actually how we make our living :-) It keeps us really busy, that's for sure! I am working up a page for the blog that has prices for 40k and fantasy miniatures of various sizes and types.

  6. What is the process for discussing a potential commission with you?

  7. Usually the buyer sends me a request of what needs to be done, and I send back my best estimate. If everything is OK, we work out a basic timeframe (there are certain times of year that can get crazy for us with our painting schedule!)

The buyer then sends me whatever figures need to be painted, and I begin the prepping process. If the color scheme is pretty standard, I just jump right in to all the painting. Sometimes, however, a 'color test' mini is done just to be sure everyone is on the same page.

As things are completed, I send images like the one you see here on the blog. At that point, I request a paypal payment of whatever the amount is. It it is needed right away, I can ship it out, but it is better to allow for multiple minis to be shipped, so that I can cinstruct a honecomb box which is really strong!

    I hoe that helps...

  9. Hi James, congrats on reaching 100K visits and thanks for all the amazing updates.

I've tried emailing a couple of times regarding a commission but haven't heard back, maybe my email is getting sucked into the warp somewhere along the way. I can be reached at tomaandi at yahoo dot com. Thanks!
