Yes! The Zombie Army I always wanted...

I thought this was a great concept dreamed up by one of our buyers.  I only ever did the command squad, but the idea is in my head, filed away for future use. :-)

Since I dream every day of conquering the world with a vast horde of undead minions, I look forward to taking all my undead and TK bits and mixing them with IG.  Who better to serve a withered husk in a lounge chair than millions of zombies?

I want to combine kits like the corpse cart, Mortis engine, and banshees with tanks and such to create some wild vehicles!  I think some blood knights with the correct IG bits could make some fascinating Rough Riders.

Here are some shots of the entire comand squad:

This WIP gives you a glimpse of the early "shaded basecoat", where I do all the lightest colors first, and then use a series of glazes and washes in order to do all the shading and tinting.

And now for something completely different...

OK, this had to be the most unusual commission request I have ever gotten.

The buyer wanted to have a 40k Thousand Sons sorcerer on a captured Slaan Palanquin, with the poor toad sitting there in chains!  So sad. :-(

To assist with issues of weight and scale, I had to scratch sculpt both the Slaan and the Palanquin.  It pained me to do the whole thing with the chains, but it was fun to make a palanquin!  That was made with sculpey and Apoxy sculpt, while the Slaan was created with Apoxy sculpt and green stuff.

I also made the base with the crystals.

Here's a  few images of just the sorcerer and Palanquin:

Hey, did you smell that?

Well, I guess that was me :-)

Here's another plague Ogryn.  The way the skin was sculpted on these minis was pretty unusual, and I had to change my usual approach when painting it.  I didn't want all the little divots to look like nothing more than a dirty golf ball, so I tried to get a little actual 'color' into each one, no matter how dark it was.

Hark the Herald...

This is one half of the Herald/Demon prince character combo from Forgeworld. I'll be posting the Prince tomorrow.

The colors on this figure were designed to match the World Eaters space marine army that you all have been seeing a lot of here on the blog.  He is also on Cool Mini at: http://www.coolminiornot.com/306969
